Jamal Malachi is the name of New Orleans based Hip-Hop & experimental music project, fronted by rap vocalist Erica Ether. The project is comprised of various producers, engineers & DJs with Erica as the main vocal act. Experimenting with multiple sonic styles, the project draws influence from numerous genres/subgenres, incorporating Trip-Hop, Hardcore, Punk, Bounce, Hyperpop & more.

Coming from a musical family, Erica has been rapping, writing & playing music since age 9. She began recording & producing while still in middle & high school, releasing her first works with friends in the mid 2010s, eventually partnering with producer/rapper JCKIEJEWLZ to form Cut+Sew Records.

After releasing a marathon of freestyles on social media for the better part of 2024, Erica released the first official EP from the project, the 3-track, ‘…and it showed me 3 faces.’, March of 2025. In February of 2026, Erica landed a notable feature on the song ‘TH3 iMAG3 of GOD’ by rapper, DAMAG3 leading to her being added as a supporting act on both New Orleans stops of DAMAG3’s tour, as well as further collaborations from the two. She has since gone on to work with several other notable acts such as:

Currently, Erica & co. are gearing up for the release of the project’s next EP, the hardcore & metal influenced, 2Face. The 6-track offering features production from JCKIEJEWLZ, DAMAG3, Infatuation, & SC4RECROWZ, with vocal engineering from Andy Gross. The first single, ‘dead.broke’, released on Oct. 6, 2026 and features production & guitar work from DAMAG3 w/ additional production, mixing & mastering from Infatuation.
